Treatments for Rosacea Skin Problems
Rosacea is a chronic skin problem, which usually appears on your face. In this, the facial skin gets a reddish tone forever. It may cause itching and spider veins and acne like pimples.
This disease has affected millions of people without them being aware of its existence. This problem is common among women between the age group of 30 and 50. The similarity between other diseases makes it very hard to identify. It can be mistaken as sunburn or as acne related problem. As there are no definite remedies related to rosacea you can take some measures to control this problem.
There are five different subtypes of rosacea:
- Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea : Initially involves facial redness in the middle portion of the face and frequent flushing. It also includes visible blood vessels. Stinging and burning sensation often occurs along with facial roughness.
- Papulopustular rosacea : It is determined by persistent facial redness and short-lived with bumps and pimples that tend to resemble acne. Burning sensations and stinging are not remarkable.
- Phymatous rosacea : Involves thickening of the skin on the nose, which results in increasing nose size due to excess tissue. It can also be seen in another place such as on the chin, forehead, cheeks and ears.
- Ocular rosacea : It affects the eye and creates problems like watery, burning and /or stinging, dryness, itching, tearing, blurry vision, swollen or puffy eyelids.
- Neuropathic rosacea : It has to be officially recognized yet though to be most severe. It involves burning in the central facial region, lasting for more than half an hour.
Causes of Rosacea
- Some problem with the blood vessel may cause blood vessels to swell which further leads to flushing and blushing.
- Hereditary and Natural factors: The combination of hereditary and natural or environmental component may create this skin infection.
- It is studied that this condition affects lighter-complexioned skin more than the other skin type.
- Rosacea can get rigorous due to sunlight, physical or mental stress, headaches, sinus, pre-dominant allergic conditions, spicy food, extreme temperatures and alcohol. The irritation may differ from person to person and sometimes would not even matter.
Signs and symptoms of Rosacea
- Rosacea causes frequent blushing and flushing which is can be termed as the first sign of this skin problem.
- Persistent Redness is a steady occurrence with people suffering from this problem. Your face turns red which is mainly mistaken as sunburn.
- Appearances of pus-filled pimples or small bumps are visible over the face. These may seem like acne accompanied with burning and stinging sensation.
- Many small blood vessels appear on your face.
- Other general signs are eye irritation or watery eyes, inflammation, dry skin skin thickens, facial swelling or swelling of eyelids.
Rosacea- treatment of spider veins and inflammation
Doctors incise the very small spider veins that become red with an electric needle. Once these veins are destroyed the reddish tone on the facial skin decreases considerably. Laser is also used to treat these veins. Some anti inflammatory topical medications can be prescribed that will reduce the color and the problem.
- Rosacea- treatment of pustules
The pustules that appear in rosacea are not acne but can be treated with topical medications including topical antibiotics.
- Rosacea - triggers
Despite of all the treatment, you need to take care of the triggers. Whenever you get a flare up, please try to find out the trigger and make a list of your personal triggers. Avoid them.
