Home manicure:
- Avoid the use of metal implements for a manicure.
- Initiate by eliminating the old varnish with a good nail polish remover.
- File the nails gently and carefully. Take care as not to file down the sides too sharply.
- Next step is to dip your fingertips in a foamy solution and scrub gently. However, do not soak them. Ensure that you dry them thoroughly after they feel smooth. Moreover, be careful not to damage your fingernails when wet.
- Now apply gently a cuticle cream or lotion around the cuticle. You can do this with the help of an ear bud or orange stick tipped with a cotton wool. You need to apply the cream lightly, as this is the most delicate section of the nail.
- After applying the cream, the next step is to clean the nails once again with a good nail polish remover.
- Next, apply a base coat and give it time to dry completely.
- After the base coat is dried, you can apply a good varnish of your choice. To do this, pull out the brush from the nail polish bottle and make an outline of a half-moon on your nail. Then spread the color in deft broad strokes from the beginning of the half-moon to the tip of the nail. Use the same method for all the nails. Remember that practice will make you perfect.
- Remove a thin hairline of color with the help of your thumbnail, from the edges to prevent chipping.
- After the polish is totally dry, you can apply a topcoat for added gloss and protection.
- Finally, use a good hand cream or a hand and body lotion to massage your hands right from the tips of your fingers to your wrists, as you would smooth on a pair of gloves. Wipe off any excess cream.
- Enjoy your brand new pair of hands.
