Introduction:
The problem of dry red skin is common for those who live in the places of cold temperatures and low humidity, It is usual of finding red dry skin on face during winter. One can develop dry and red skin at any age. The skin on feet and under arms is seen to become red in the harsh cold conditions. The normal symptoms for dry red skin are rough and fine lines on the skin, peeling of skin, flaky dull look on skin, etc. Human skin contains several layers. The skin diseases attack the outermost layer. This layer is known as stratum corneum. When the skin burns due to excessive heat, this layer casts off. This skin layer usually comprises of the dead cells. They hold natural oils and water produced from the underlying skin layers. Natural oils play a vital role to hold water in the stratum corneum. The water content in the body helps to keep the skin soft and smooth.

- To prevent the problem of red skin, one should not use too hot or too cold water for bathing. Warm water is better that helps in proper blood circulation and cleaning the skin effectively. The excess washing of your body or bathing needs to be avoided. One should limit the bath to twice daily. The excess use of water removes away the natural oils in the skin.
- There are more chances of red skin around nose, mouth and eyes. To protect the skin in these areas from becoming red with dryness, one should cover the face while going out during harsh cold. One should take care not to expose the skin to harsh sun too.
- One has a natural tendency of scratching the skin when it becomes too dry. The scratching also forms red patches on the skin. Therefore, one should essentially avoid scratching the skin to keep it soft and healthy looking. The excess use of cosmetics also harms the skin with red patches on it.
- Before buying the cosmetic products, one has to consult a skin specialist. This is necessary because, the use of inappropriate creams, soaps, perfumes and ointments also leads to the allergic reactions on skin. While choosing the cosmetics for skin, one should look for those having little content of chemicals.
- A healthy diet is the most important factor to have a healthy skin. To keep the skin healthy and properly nourished, one should have green vegetables, juicy fruits, fish, milk and eggs in their daily diet.
- Developing the red marks on skin can be a cause of using harsh fabrics for daily wear. To avoid this skin trouble, cotton is the best fabric for clothes. Some people get allergies from metals, therefore they should keep their skin away from the regular contact with metals like gold, silver, etc.
- It is recommended to drink sufficient water a day to provide the body with required moisture.
