Introduction:

Using dry skin care products is an easiest way to treat the dry skin. Dry skin is not a severe problem, but provides one an awkward appearance. Dry skin can be caused due to various factors such as extreme environments, consumption of improper food, use of unsuitable skin products, etc. To keep the skin moist, one can follow the basic home remedies. These remedies include less exposure to extreme cold and extreme hot, less contact with water, avoiding excess intake of alcohol, drinking sufficient water and eating juicy fruits and leafy green vegetables. There are different types of skin care products available in the market to prevent the skin from various problems. It is essential to choose one that suits best to your skin type. Following are some ideas regarding which type of products are to be used and which are to be avoided to keep the dry skin problem under control.

Shea and Cocoa Butters: Shea butter and Cocoa butter come from the Shea and Cocoa nuts respectively. These butters have natural skin softening properties. It is beneficial to choose the creams containing these butters, because though they are in the oil forms, they do not provide greasy appearance to the skin after application. These butters provide little amounts of proteins and some vitamins such as A, C, D and E. These butters are very effective as they moisturize the skin deeply.

Grape-seed Oil: This is an effective oil to naturally moisturize the skin. If you drink a glass of grape-wine occasionally, it may also work as a good skin care source. This oil provides the natural antioxidants having strong skin healing properties. This oil works well to repair the dry skin with wrinkles, cracks, stretch marks and rashes.

Jojoba oil: This is also one of the best ingredients to be used in the dry skin care products. This oil is widely found in shampoos, moisturizers and soaps. This oil is a form of liquid wax which comes from the seeds of jojoba plant. This plant is native to Mexico and Southwest of United States. This oil works as a natural fungicide and helps to avoid the clogging of skin pores. This oil is nicely absorbed into the skin. It does not evaporate soon and stays for long into the skin.

Applying dry skin care products:

  • The most important thing to be kept into mind is that excess application of skin care products is not beneficial for skin, rather harmful.
  • The skin care soaps are to be used once during a morning bath. If you take a bath more than once a day, it is recommended not to use the soap every time.
  • After bath, one should apply good skin care lotion. After the application of cream, it is recommended cover the area while going out so that it will come in contact with the dust in air.
  • It is also advisable to wash the body with warm water and apply a dry skin lotion every day before going to bed to protect the skin from drying.
Dry skin is a common problem faced by many people. The dry skin can be treated with various creams, lotions and ointments. Above recommended are the best ingredients for dry skin products.
