Winter Dry Skin

Introduction:

Dry skin is a most common problem and is extremely worse in winter. People have to suffer a lot with winter dry skin as during this season the humidity and moisture in air is very less. This skin problem can occur at any age. The problem of dry skin needs to be treated in the early stages because if kept untreated it can become more dangerous. The common symptoms of dry skin in winter are cracking, peeling of skin, red patches on skin, rough and dull appearance, etc. During winter, one's skin looks very dull and flaky because of dryness. This type of skin leads to the unpleasing and awkward skin appearance.

Causes of winter dry skin:

In winter, the outside temperature is very low. By exposing your skin to the extremely cold temperature, it can dry out. The use of cold water for longer time a day in winter also harms the skin. Some people take a body wash for more than twice a day, which is not actually required in winter and responsible for making the skin uncomfortable. The use of harsh skin care products removes away the natural oils and moisture from skin and makes the outermost skin layer very rough and dry. In winter, body sweats a little and one does not need a great amount of water daily. Drinking less amount of water every day also leads to the drying of skin. The extreme dry skin in winter is often called by the dermatologists as 'asteatosis' or 'xerosis'. The improper food habits also make skin unhealthy and dry.
