Home Remedies for Athlete's Foot
Athlete's foot is a common fungal skin infection also known as Tinea oedis.
The symptoms of Athlete's foot are:
- Skin dryness on the sides or bottom of the feet
- Itching, burning or stingling between the toes or on the soles of the feet
- Cuts, cracks, peeling skin or blisters between the toes or on the soles of the feet.
Home remedies for Athlete's foot:
- Tea tree oil is one of the most efficient home remedy for athlete's foot. This is antiseptic oil and has the ability to kill many bacteria and fungi. Add four drops of tea tree oil to a little quantity of water, soak your feet in it for 10 minutes after dry feet with a towel, and ensure that there is no moisture present. This is essential because the fungus under the toenail may flourish if it is not completely dried.
- Take fresh garlic slices and keep it in your shoes, wear it for the entire day. This is the best way of curing athlete's foot even better than an over the counter anti fungal drugs.
- Take a tablespoon of baking soda and mix it with little water. Make a paste, rub onto the infected area of your feet, and let it dry. Then, rinse it off and let your feet dry.
- Take cloves of garlic and blend it to a paste. Rub the paste to the affected area. Use it for two to three days. It is a slow but effective method.
- Massage well between the toes with natural yoghurt and leave it overnight. Wash it well in the morning, dry and dust with an antifungal powder. This will help to reduce athlete's foot.
- Add a few drops of the essential oil of thyme or rosemary herb to a cupful of olive oil and massage onto the affected area. This is beneficial for the treatment of athlete's foot.
- Wash with an equal amount of cider vinegar and warm water. Both lavender or rosemary vinegar can be used instead. This will prevent athlete's foot.
- Dilute a small amount of rubbing alcohol with water and soak a cotton ball in it. Apply the rubbing alcohol immersed cotton ball to the infected area of the foot and allow it to dry.
- One of the best home remedies involves soaking the feet twice a day in an equal mixture of apple cider vinegar and water. On the other hand, you can apply pure apple cider vinegar to the affected areas several times a day and before bedtime.
- Soak feet in very warm water, which contains about one part white vinegar and four parts water, for 20 - 30 minutes, twice a day, until the fungus is no longer visible and irritating.
- Aloe vera has an amazing effect on athlete's foot due to its natural agents. Apply it twice a day on your infected foot. The symptoms will slowly begin to disappear within a few weeks.
