Home Remedies for Boils
The localized collection of pus surrounded by swollen tissue in the skin is termed as a boil. It first appears as a blemished tender area and gradually the area around it becomes firm and hard. The middle of the boil is soft as it is filled with pus and is filled with infection fighting white blood cells, bacteria and proteins that eliminate the infection. Lastly, the pus forms a head, which can be surgically opened or drained out through the surface of the skin.
It is difficult to know the actual reason for the cause of boils. They can be caused by ingrown hair, any particle or foreign object lodged in the skin or clogged sweat glands that become infected. Boils can affect both young and old in the similar manner. It is one of the widespread skin infections ranging from the severity of a pimple to an abscess. Boils can be treated with either home remedies or medications. However, if the boil is painful and does not show any improvement, then it is recommended to consult the healthcare practitioner.
- The hot compress when applied on the boils enhances the circulation to the area, allowing the body to fight against the infection.
- It is better way to start cleaning your skin with an antiseptic soap, if you find your skin often showing the occurrence of boils. This could help to reduce the frequent appearance of boils.
- Daily use of antibacterial soaps helps prevent bacteria from building up on the skin. This can lessen the chance for the hair follicles to become infected and prevent the formation of boils.
Home remedies for boils
- Juice of garlic or onion applied superficially on boils helps to ripen them,
break them and drain out the pus.
- Add a tsp of limejuice in a cupful of fresh bitter gourd juice, when taken on an empty stomach daily this juice treats this condition.
- Take1 tsp of milk cream, 1/2 tsp of vinegar and a pinch of turmeric powder and mix it to form a paste. When applied it helps ripening the blood boils and cures them without getting septic.
- Warm a betel leaf gently until it becomes soft. Cover it with a layer of castor oil and put it over the inflamed part. Replace the leaf every few hours. Few applications of the castor oil coated betel leaf will break and drain out the boil.
- Take some cumin seeds; grind it with water to form a paste. Apply the paste to the boils with helpful results.
- Steep parsley in boiled water until it is soft and juicy. When hot envelop it in clean muslin cloth and apply it on the boils.
- Application of turmeric powder on the boils facilitates to ripen it and burst.
