Natural Remedies to Get Rid of Freckles
Freckles are small brownish spots visible on skin, mostly found on face, particularly the cheeks and nose. It is caused due to the irregular distribution of melanin pigments residing in the skin.
There are both simple and hard way to get rid of freckles. The easier way involves the use of bleaching creams; which when applied softens the freckled. The harder way is the laser treatments, some of which may be expensive.
These help you to get rid of freckles, but this might be painful. In such a case, the natural remedies are safer, convenient, and less painful.
Following are some natural remedies for freckles:
- Lemon juice is the best freckle-fighting remedy. It is not necessary to rub your skin with a piece of lemon. Applying the juice with your fingers will help to get rid of freckles. Lemon juice bleaches the dark spots.
- Rub your freckles with fresh cut eggplant daily. You will notice a difference in a week or so.
- Rub on fresh crushed cranberries every day and leave on for fifteen minutes, rinse with cool water and pat dry.
- Apply castor oil at night before going to bed.
- Warm honey slightly and stir in a little quantity of wheat germ into the honey before applying. Afterwards tap face gently with your fingers. Wash
honey off with warm water then rinse with cool water.
- Apply sour cream on your face. Gently wipe off with a soft tissue instead of washing it and apply moisturizer afterwards.
- Horseradish juice, horseradish vinegar or oatmeal applied on the skin is also effective in lightening freckles.
- Dissolve some sugar in the juice of one lemon. Apply mixture to each freckle with a brush.
- Blend yellow mustard in milk, make a paste and apply to the face during the night. Wash your face the next morning.
- Onions are also used for removing freckles and age spots. Slice a red onion in half and rub on the spots twice daily. Continue until the spots fade.
- Applying buttermilk on freckles is effective in lightening them.
- Mix an equal quantity of turmeric and sesame seeds. Grind in water and apply to the face.
- Take a watermelon, make a hole in its rind and add some grains of rice in it. Take out the rice after a week. Grind into a paste and apply on the face.
- To lighten freckles, mash 1/4 cup of fresh currants and mix with 1 tbsp. of unpasteurized honey. Put on freckles and leave on for half an hour. Wash it with warm water and pat on diluted fresh lemon juice.
- Mix ground radish seeds in water and apply regularly to remove freckles and clear blackheads.
- Squeeze a fresh lime in a glassful of whole milk (previously boiled), add a teaspoon of glycerin and allow this mixture to stand for half an hour. Apply this mixture on the face and wash after 30 minutes.
- To help the freckles fade, dab cucumber juice on your face at night and wash off in the morning.
- Applying lemon juice mixed with honey also helps.
