Melanoma is also be called as cutaneous melanoma or malignant melanoma. Malignant Melanoma is a skin cancer in which cancer cells are found in the melanocytes. This cancer is often occurs in adults, but it may found in children.

This cancer type has the highest death rate. It is usually appears on fair-skinned men and women. Smoking, diet, family history can be the risk factors of malignant melanoma cancer. The persons who are having the following characteristics may be at an high risk for melanoma:

  • blue eyes
  • blond or red hair
  • fair complexion
  • a changed or changing mole
  • family history of melanoma
  • many freckles
  • many ordinary moles
  • an immunosuppressive disorder
  • sun exposure
  • inability to tan

The common symptoms of melanoma may include:

  • oozing or bleeding from a mole
  • change in the size, shape, or color of a mole
  • a mole that feels itchy, hard, lumpy, swollen, or tender to the touch

Preventives methods for the malignant melanoma are:

  • Minimize exposure to sunlight.
  • Learn about the disease.
  • Use a sunscreen lotions
  • Are aware of moles and check for changes like shape, size, color, itching or bleeding.
