Chapped Lips Treatments
Chapped lips are the result of a very dry skin.Most people gets chapped lips from time to time. Dry, broken or sore lips can interfere with many daily activities, such as smiling, kissing, eating and talking.
Due to various reasons lips may become chapped .These include:
- Exposure to wind, sun, cold or dry air.
- Blocked breathing such as in allergic rhinitis, which can force you to breathe through your mouth.
- Get in touch with dermatitis due to irritants or allergens in cosmetics or skin-care products.
- Certain medications, such as those used to treat acne
- A habit of frequently licking your lips
- Dehydration
To cure or treat chapped lips, consider these tips:
- Apply an oil-based lubricating cream, such as Aquaphor Healing Ointment, or lip balm containing petrolatum or beeswax.
- Apply lip cream, balm or lipstick before going out in cold, dry weather. Reapply several times while outside.
- Choose a lip cream or balm that contains sunscreen. Sun exposure contributes to chapped lips.
- Avoid licking your lips. Saliva fades away quickly, leaving lips drier than before.
- Avoid using a flavored lip balm, which can tempt you to lick your lips.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Dehydration can contribute to chapped lips.
- Use a humidifier at home to keep air moist.
- If chapping is severe and self-care measures do not seem to help, consult your doctor. Seldom, persistent chapped lips may indicate an underlying problem, such as dermatitis.
- Take a green or black tea bag and wet it with some warm water. Let the wet teabag sit on your lips for about five minutes. After removing the teabag, be sure to put some chap stick. Do this before you go to bed, in that way the chap stick gets time to soak in over night.
- Every night, before you go to bed, coat your lips, upper and bottom lip with regular chap stick or carmex.
- Wet your lips and then run a dry toothbrush over them .You will feel as if the skin is coming off. Afterwards apply lip balm.
- Put some honey on your lips let dry for a bit then without moving your lips, that is important, put on some Vaseline on top. Do this about two to five days in a row to get rid of chapped lips.
- After taking a hot shower before bedtime, apply a mixture of "SHEA BUTTER" & "VITAMIN E OIL" to your lips. Perform this each night and you will get soft chap-less lip forever.
