Chocolate Facial Mask

Cocoa being the main ingredient in chocolate, is not only rich in antioxidants that helps to keep your skin healthy, but it also contains properties that stimulate the release of endorphins, which when smelled, improves one's mood. Therefore, a homemade chocolate face mask will help to moisturize and nourish your skin and help you feel good.

This chocolate facial mask is a guilt free form of having chocolate. The chocolate face mask requires four ingredients such as oats, yoghurt, honey and cocoa powder.

  1. The oats act as a gentle exfoliant, so try to get them as fine as possible.
  2. The yoghurt aids in the removal of dead skin cells.
  3. The honey helps to cleanse the skin deeply and opens clogged pores.
  4. The cocoa powder is full of anti-oxidants and has a toning effect on your skin; also gives this mask its chocolate name.

This mask may get a little messy so apply it over a sink. Once you have massaged it into your skin it dries slightly.

Chocolate Facial Mask Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1/4-cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4-cup honey
  • 1/4-cup natural yoghurt - not flavoured
  • 1/4 cup oats, finely chopped.

Combine the ingredients together in a small dish. Mix the ingredients together to form a smooth paste suitable to apply to your face. Let it stand for 5 minutes to thicken slightly. Clean your face thoroughly, then dry your skin and apply the homemade chocolate face mask generously to your clean and dry face and neck areas. Lightly massage in avoiding the eye and lip areas. Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water. Pat dry and apply a moisturizer.

You may find that, this chocolate mask is so good at cleansing your skin that it will absorb your moisturizer easily and you may need a second application. If you feel any irritation on your skin then wash, the chocolate mask off immediately.

Another chocolate face mask recipe is, melt six squares of dark chocolate. Add few drops of orange essential oil. Once it is cooled, paint onto your face and leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and the rinse off. This recipe helps to make your skin soft and deliciously scented.
