The Facts about Oily Skin Care

It is very crucial; to first understand the reason behind oily skin. Oily skin is defined as, a result of excessive production of sebum, which is an oily substance that is naturally produced by skin. The excessive sebum leads to clogging of skin pores, which results in growth of dead cells and hence forms the pimples and acne. Moreover, oily skin affects your looks too. Therefore, oily skin care is as essential as the skin care for other skin types.

The removal of excessive sebum or oil from the skin is the basic need of oily skin care. However; this procedure should not lead to complete removal of oil. The oily skin care begins with the use of a cleanser. However, not all cleansers work. The cleanser that contains salicylic acid that is a beta-hydroxy acid that slow down the rate of sebum production is good to use. Cleansing requires to be done twice a day.In hot and humid condition, it should be done more than two times a day.

It is always good to check the ingredients of the oily skin care products, before you actually buy it, as most of these products are oil free. This is particularly necessary if a product is labelled as suitable for all skin types, instead of oily skin care product. Oily skin care is also dependent on the level of oiliness. If you do not have too oily skin, then some of these skin care products labelled as 'suitable for all' might be helpful for you too. Oily skincare products are most suitable for extremely oily skin. An alcohol-based toner for an extremely oily skin can be included in your oily skin care routine. After cleansing, toning can be the second step of your oily skin care routine. However, extensive toning can harm your skin.

A mild moisturizer can be the next step in your skin care routine. Yet again, it depends on the degree of oiliness of your skin, whether you need to include this in your skin care routine. If you decide to use a moisturizer, be sure to use one that is wax-free, oil-free and lip-free.

As an oily skin care measure, you can also use a clay mask, once in week.

You might need to try out few oily skin care products before you choose the one that is suitable for your skin.

Consult a good dermatologist for advice in case these measures do not provide you the favorable results. He could prescribe you stronger oily skin care products like retinoid, sulphur creams, Vitamin A creams etc. which can help to solve the oily skin problems.
