Home Remedies to Remove Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are lines on the skin with an off-color shade. Such lines are generally found in the abdominal wall below the umbilicus, but can also occur over the thighs and breasts. While pregnancy is the major cause of stretch marks, other reasons include gain or loss of weight, rapid growth (especially in adolescents), heredity factors, stress and changes in physical conditions. In medical terms, it is called striae gravidarum. Stretch marks are initially pink in color but change to white later on. Misjudged for scars, they are essentially a flattened, thin epidermis, overlying gaps in the dermis left by stretched or torn elastin fibers.
The skin will not jump back in its pure state if it has been extended by rapid growth due to pregnancy, weight gain or extreme weight loss. However, it becomes inflicted by a form of scarring called stretch marks or striae.
