Aromatherapy Skincare

Aromatherapy involves the use of essential oils extracted from nature's herbs and flowers. The aroma is either applied to the skin or inhaled and each of the oils (or combination thereof) addresses a specific disorder. It appears that the body is able to use the healing properties of the oils through the oil factory system of the body, and so initiate the healing process.

Aromatherapy creates a wonderful blend just for your skin type with the magic of potent natural botanicals, which rewards in more than one way. Essential oils are broadly used in natural medicine and some are well known for their skin rejuvenating effects.

While some of the most highly considered therapeutic grade oils may seem expensive at first but they are effective in such small concentrations as to really make them worthwhile. Moreover, their efficacy is well known; that is why so many laboratory-made preparations use components of essential oils in their formulas. With a one or two ounce bottle to mix in and an eyedropper, you can easily mix your own blend with the aroma.

There are few essential oils frequently used in skin care recipes; you can select these, depending on your desired results. Other essential oils may be added to improve the aroma of your blend; many oils used to do so are also are known to relieve tension or bring about a healthy state of mind - and most natural clinicians will tell you that beauty starts inside out.

These few primary skin care oils include the following :

  • Helichrysum italicum : The flower of this plant contains oil, which is highly considered in aromatherapy for its great versatility. It has a pleasant aroma as it contains rare 'di-ketones' which stimulate the skin's natural metabolism and is a powerful anti-inflammatory (all tissue damage and aging is associated with inflammation on a cellular level).

  • Lavender oil : 'True' or 'French' Lavender is the oil mainly used in aromatherapy today, because of its great multitude of effects. Like Helichrysum, it includes regenerative ketones; it reduces inflammation; it speeds wound healing; and it has an aroma very well known for its relaxing effects.

  • Rosemary oil : It also contains ketones and known as a circulatory and metabolism stimulant as it increases the flow of nutrients in and waste products out of your skin cells.

  • Palmarosa essential oil : It is included in many blends for its gentle cleansing and antiseptic properties.

  • Carrot Seed oil : It is the premier oil used for regenerating tired lifeless skin - often a result of too much stress or high levels of exposure to pollution.

There are numerous other oils with positive effects on the skin, these just happen to be the ones often used.

By doing research, you can discover essential oils that will address particular skin conditions that are not covered here. Further, there are indeed hundreds of essential oils available each with its own unique composition and aroma. Adding up a little to your blends, simply for their fragrance influence is highly recommended. A few drops of valuable oils like Jasmine, Neroli, Sandalwood or Rose can create that aromatic combination you simply love and will want to wear all the time.
