Homemade Scrubs for Perfect Skin

The most important aspect of skin care regime is exfoliation of the skin, of both the body and face, as it helps remove dead skin cells to reveal a fresher looking healthy skin. This also helps in better absorption of skin care products.

Skin exfoliation can be carried out at home with scrubs made of natural ingredients. However, exercise caution in usage, find out from your dermatologist, if your skin type needs regular exfoliation.

Use of scrubs on a daily basis is not advisable, as it will strip the skin off essential oils; instead make it a weekly affair if you have dry skin and bi-weekly if you have oily skin. If you experience unusual dryness and irritation, it is a warning to go easy on scrubbing. Avoid scrubs with many artificial ingredients. Opt for scrubs, and there are ample available in the market, with natural ingredients. Still better, make them at home.

Here are some easy-to-make face and body scrubs recipes:

Oats and roses scrub

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup milk powder
  • 1 tablespoon rock salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon crushed and dried rose petals or dried and powdered lemon or orange peel
  • 1 tablespoon dried and powdered neem leaves

Gently mix all ingredients in a mixer. Do not make the mixture smooth; leave it in a granular stage. Gently massage this on to moist body and face. Leave it to dry. Rinse well. Regular use will make your skin smooth and baby-soft.

Rice and sugar scrub

Ingredients:

  • 5-tablespoon baby oil
  • 4 teaspoon coarsely ground rice flour
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon sugar

Mix all the ingredients, and gently massage your body and face. Rinse off with lukewarm water. If you have pimples or acne, avoid using this scrub.

Honey and olive oil scrub

Ingredients:

  • 2-tablespoon honey
  • 3-tablespoon tbsp oatmeal
  • 1-tablespoon tbsp olive oil
  • 1-tablespoon tbsp coarse brown sugar
  • 1-tablespoon tbsp lemon juice

Mix all ingredients, except the oatmeal. Once a smooth paste is prepared, add in oatmeal. Gently scrub all over body and face. Rinse off with lukewarm water.
This scrub will make your skin glow with health.

Pineapple and papaya scrub
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup diced pineapple and papaya
  • 1-tablespoon honey
  • 1-tablespoon baby oil
  • 2-tablespoon oatmeal and sugar

Squash the pineapple and papaya pieces and squeeze out the juices into a jar. Add oatmeal, sugar, baby oil and honey to the fruit pulp. Make a coarse mix. Moisten your face and body. Massage onto your body and face in a circular motion. Leave it on for 5 minutes. Rinse off with cool water. Lightly massage the fruit juice all over your body and face. Leave for 15 minutes. Take a cold shower. If you regularly follow this ritual, you can be rest assured that your skin will remain satin smooth and healthy.
