Home Remedies for Pimples
A pimple or acne is a small swelling on the skin containing pus, usually on the face and neck. It usually occurs around puberty.
Causes for the formation of pimple/acne
- Acne can be a consequence of hormonal changes during adolescence, skin allergies or even constipation.
- Excessive consumption of starch, sugar or fat in the diet can cause pimples.
- Deficiency of vitamin A and zinc are also one of the most prevalent causes of acne/ pimples
- An oily complexion and pollution can worsen the problem.
Foods to be avoided:
- Tea and coffee.
- Spicy and oily foods.
- Confectionery and sweets.
- Dairy products.
- Pickles, canned and preserved foods.
- Refined foods like sugar, pasta and polished rice
- Creamy salad dressings.
Tips for a Glowing Complexion
- Wash your skin smoothly twice daily with an antibacterial soap (not regular soap) as it is alkaline and will retard bacterial growth. Washing will keep the pores open and your skin free of bacteria. However, do not scrub too hard, as this will irritate your skin further.
- Keep your hands away from your face or other affected areas. They may contain oils and bacteria that could promote acne. Wash your hands frequently.
- Stay away from greasy creams and cosmetics, particularly ones that contain oils and dyes.
- Decrease the consumption of junk foods; sugar not more than four teaspoons per day.
- Drink plenty of water.
Home Remedy Tips for Pimples
- Grind nutmeg with unboiled milk and apply on affected area. This works like magic. Pimples should disappear without leaving a mark.
- Make a paste by combining 3 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. Repeat for two weeks, pimples will vanish forever.
- Apply a mixture of 1-teaspoon lemon juice and 1-teaspoon cinnamon powder.
- Make orange peel paste by grinding it in some water. Apply on and around pimples.
- Rub fresh garlic on and around pimples. Pimples will go without a mark with regular applications.
- Mix one-tablespoon groundnut oil with one-tablespoon fresh limejuice to prevent formation of blackheads and pimples.
- Apply fresh mint juice over the face every night for the treatment of pimples, insect stings, eczema, scabies, & other skin infections.
- Apply a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves over the face every night for 10-15 minutes and wash with warm water. This will prevent pimples, blackheads, and wrinkles.
- Apply juice of raw papaya (including the skin and seed) on swelling pimples.
- Mix limejuice and rose water in equal portions. Apply on affected area. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water.
- Apply ripe tomatoes pulp on pimples and keep up to one hour, then wash.
- A drink made with black raisins, sugar and fennel seeds help to bring quick results as it clean the digestive tract and chases body heat away.
- Vegetables and fruits like cucumber, oranges, watermelon, papaya, chickoo, mint, spinach etc are rich in fiber and nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E, which help to have a glowing skin.
- A paste made with equal proportions of Fuller’s Earth, rose water and sandalwood, when applied on the face for 15 to 20 minutes will rejuvenate acne prone oily skin.
- Rub a slice of a ripe tomato over the skin. Dry it for half hour and wash off with lukewarm water.
- Applying a mixture of juice of Indian basil with lemon or ginger will also help to cure pimples with scars.
